MOTION
Title: Transfer to the Secondary System of Highways
Frontage Road F-915 Located in Fairfax County, Running Parallel to U.S. Route
29
WHEREAS,
Frontage Roads are constructed in conjunction with limited access highways to
preserve service to properties that would otherwise be deprived of access to a
public road; and
WHEREAS, Frontage Road F-915 was
constructed to provide access to lots that would otherwise have been landlocked
by the limited access of U.S. Route 29 in Fairfax County; and
WHEREAS, the developer of an
adjacent commercial property has built an additional 0.05 of a mile extension,
Route 2586, onto the end of Frontage Road F-915 in order to provide access to
the commercial development, thereby eliminating the need for Frontage Road
F-915; and
WHEREAS,
the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County has requested that the Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT) add Route 2586 to the secondary system of Fairfax County;
and
WHEREAS, VDOT recommends the road
be transferred from the primary system of state highways to the secondary
system of state highways.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, pursuant
to § 33.2-315 of the Code of Virginia,
the Board hereby orders the transfer of Frontage Road F-915 from the Primary
System of Highways to the Secondary System of Highways, a distance of
approximately 0.10 of a mile.
